Rach, 03/02/2023. Another wonderful trip spent with the super-experienced Julian. There were only four of us in total on this trip but it was still as amazing as ever. There were lots of adventures as always and some incredible views to be seen. I would jump at the chance of going on another trip with Unknown Sailing. Thanks so much

We had a fantastic sail with Julian in the Cyclades Islands - Mykonos, Naxos, Ios, Santorini and Paros! Also thoroughly enjoyed the company of everyone on board and the friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Although we had to cut the sailing short by one day because of the very strong Meltemi winds, this in itself was quite an adventure and thrilling to sail in these conditions. We both learnt a lot and had a fabulous time, thank you, Julian. Will definitely come again if we may!

I had a terrific time sailing the beautiful waters of Phuket, Phangna and Krabi on-board a spacious and luxurious Catamaran. Julian was the perfect host, the best instructor and a great team leader. I thoroughly enjoyed all those beautiful islands, the drinks at sunset and the superb atmosphere and friendship on board. All members of the team, from the UK and Australia, were cosmopolitan, fascinating and entertaining people that brought a lot of fun and energy to this trip. Thank you Julian for an unforgettable adventure

Julian is a fun skipper and very laid back in his dealings. Crew got along well and he was very attentive to make sure that all were having a great time. Works to teach the crew members about the navigation , mooring, anchoring, all aspects of the boat and its running if they would like to learn. At the end of our trip he was letting the crew show their new talents. Would be great to sail with him again.

May 2017 - French Polynesia Trip - My wife and I had a trip of a lifetime. I owe it to Julian and his wonderful job of skippering a boat full of sailors of different abilities. He is laid back but extremely competent. He demonstrated profound patience when teaching the novice sailor. The trip was chock full of adventure and wonderful scenery. And to top it all off the price was an amazing bargain! I plan on trying to make the next trip.

We were able to see parts of St. Lucia, St. Vincent, the Grenadine Islands of Bequia, Mustique, Mayreau and the Tobago Cays! The memories will be unforgettable and the friends will hopefully last a lifetime. Julian is very friendly and definitely a competent skipper. I am hoping to be invited back for another trip! Thank you Julian for a fantastic vacation!

If Julian would be happy (mad enough) to take me on another trip, seeing as I'm not a sailor, I'd definitely be up for it. Thanks so much Julian - you are such a great guy, funny, charismatic - a true gent. Except when you let me fall in off the dingy!!! Haha! Glad you didn't have your camera at the ready.

Thank you for another (my second) fantastic trip, I had a great time, bought home some fabulous memories and lots of new friends. Julian is one of the most chilled out knowledgeable skipper's I've had the pleasure to sail with :)

Thank you to Jules (fab capable skipper), Chris (second in command!), Lindsay (lovely Lilly), Anita (fabulous story teller) and Fiona (keeping us fit and healthy) for a wonderful time. Sharon

Great skippering, organising, picture-taking and porridge making! Seychelles up there with the most beautiful islands in the world, and we've seen a few. Also a record for the most hats sacrificed to the deep in one week! Lots of love Peter & Deb xxxx

What an amazing week sailing in the Seychelles.Thank you Jules for all your organising and for your tuition and company. As a family group we had a fantastic time. The islands are beautiful with magnificent palm fringed beaches. We were able to anchor at a different one each night and explore in the day or lazily sunbathe !! In July the South East Trade winds blew so it was breezy and great for sailing. There was always a quiet beach with possibly one other boat. The photos will help us remember a wonderful holiday. Love A and A xxx
Brenda 5/21/2014 9:17:32 PM (GMT) It's been just over 3 weeks since our trip to Turkey and I'm still smiling. Julian was an absolute star and looked after us so well. I had great fun and haven't laughed as much for ages! Thanks to Julian, Anita, Fiona, Lesley and Louise for making it such an enjoyable week. XX
Fiona Mays 4/29/2014 9:05:45 PM (GMT) What a fun week in Turkey! Thanks, Jules, for all the planning which made it so easy for us just to turn up, get on board and hit the high seas. Your calm and clear instructions were really helpful and I learnt a lot in 5 days....and you make great porridge, pasta and bread. All so relaxed and easy-going...I will definitely want to take another trip with unknownsailing....the sooner the better!
Stan and Judy Pui 2/7/2014 6:58:41 PM (GMT) Judy and I signed on to the Belize sailing trip which started on November 18,2013. We are Canadians and have sailed in Sea of Cortez, Mexico, Leeward islands in the Caribbean and along the coast of Portugal & Spain to Gibraltar. Judy is a novice sailor. This was our first trip with unknown sailing. It was quite a trip sailing with four POMs, a bit of culture shock for me, I had a hard time with the english accents so had to ask many times for a repeat . To make the trip more interesting, Judy and I decided to drive our clunker down from Canada to Belize. This certainly made the provisioning much easier. Since we arrived in Placencia a couple of days early, we met up with Martin, also a new unknown sailor. Julian and Chris arrived the next day and we did the Sunsail briefing and boat checkout together. Afterwards Martin and I did the provisioning-didn't buy enough rum though as we found out later. While Judy, Chris and Julian prep the boat. After settling in, we had a nice dinner at a local restaurant. We went for a day sail the next day while waiting for the last crew member to arrive. Sailing in Belize was a little more challenging due to the reefs, the inner reef is quite shallow in spots so a constant look out is required. Good snorkeling, I had brought my dive gear and rented two tanks from the dive shop pier in Placencia, so I did some diving while the otherss snorkeled. Great sea food, we bought fresh lobster tails, groupers and conch from the fishing boat where we anchored first night. What a meal! Check out the photos, words cannot describe the sailing experience. It was a pleasure sailing with Skipper Julian, an accomplished sailor and an exceptional host with great patience. We look forward to the next opportunity to sail with Julian and unknown sailing crew (Thailand,Fall 2014?) Stan and Judy
Jill Beckett 9/28/2013 1:45:18 PM (GMT) Thank you so much for a wonderful weeks sailing the "Turquoise Coast" in Turkey. I had a truely wonderful time, great sailing, very relaxing and loads of fun with like minded people. My first venture with "unknown sailing" and itching to join them once again. Thanks Julian!
Sue Lee 6/30/2013 1:27:01 PM (GMT) Back to reality after yet another brilliant trip, my fourth with Unknown Sailing. The crew of Chris, Su, Emma and David were a fabulously eclectic mix of both 'knowns' and 'unknowns' who, without exception, ensured our visit to the BVI's was filled with sun, fun, smiles, laughter and of course the odd 'Happy Hour' cocktail (?!?!?!). Thank you, as always, to skipper Julian for being simply the best! Here's to the next one! xx
Aine Healy 5/14/2013 4:19:12 PM (GMT) As this was my first 'unknown sailing' , I was unsure of what to expect . Our great skipper Julian brings together a wonderful balance of sailing, sunshine and lots of fun ! We had a wonderful week spent exploring the Ionian Islands..each with their own distinctive charm . Thanks Julian
Jackson Lloyd-Hitt 3/12/2013 6:17:19 PM (GMT) I have found the perfect combination - sailing and kitesurfing! Unbelievably this was my first sailing trip with my Dad since 1992.....when we both went on our first one! It was well worth the wait, but the next one will be a lot sooner. I may be biased but Dad/Jules made a fantastic skipper and kept an a mixed crew happy throughout. I never know he could cook!!!!! We all mucked in to keep ship and could either relax (after the washing up was done) or use Dad's fantastic knowledge and learn a little about sailing. He was eager to impart skills and proved an excellent teacher. The kiting was just fantastic. Just pick a beach to launch and use the rib for access......as well as the inevitable rescue! Downwinders showboating around the yacht were epic. Next time we will be working on the boat launch!
Laura Vulcano Fernandez-Quintanilla 3/10/2013 3:46:16 PM (GMT) If you are looking for a sailing trip packed with extreme fun & adventure... Look no further! Unknownsailing is a winning concept whose owner should be very proud of. With the recent kitesurfing inclusion in to Julian's sailing trips, no doubt, I will consider future ones!! Julian professionalism is second to none. Epic trip to Grenada, Tobago Cays & Union Island. Julian looked after me like my own father & was very considerate. Congrats Captain!! See you in the water soon! :-)

Thank you Su, Tim and, of course, you Julian for lots of fun & laughter, superb sailing, great food (Su you're a marvel!) and who could forget that 'Full Moon' party (did we really have a spaniel on board after that or were those 'Killer Bees' causing hallucinations?)! Hope to do it all again soon xx
Su Waterhouse 2/16/2012 8:43:33 PM (GMT) Just back from our Caribbean trip out of St Maarten to St Kitts-Nevis-St Eustasia, then to St Barts before heading back to base. cathy 6/22/2011 6:45:50 AM (GMT) Booked this holiday at the last minute with some trepidation especially when all my friends said I was very brave going with 4 people I'd never met before! Had a superb time in the Grenadines, Julian is a great organiser & would have no hesitation in recommending these trips to anyone
Sue Lee 6/20/2011 3:16:01 PM (GMT) Well, on a cold, wet day here in the UK I have just completed my'photobook' order and I'm dreaming about the fantastic trip we enjoyed to Grenada and up into The Grenadines! Julian & Crew were excellent company from day one. If I had any trepidation at all about 'Unknown Sailing' it disappeared at Gatwick (on the outbound journey I hasten to add!). Julian, thank you again - BRILLIANT fun, I'll be back soon! Sue x
Jon Rucker 5/27/2011 5:40:43 AM (GMT) The May 2010 Croatia trip was great! Although I had never met Julian, Ian or Mike before, we all had a great time together. Chris Longman 2/27/2011 2:31:01 PM (GMT) BVI's, Just amazing, great sailing, fab beaches, awesome beach bars and the best company. Cheers Julian, Lindsay and Sylvie.
Steve 2/23/2011 6:47:41 PM (GMT) Sept 2009, arrived at Gatwick and met Julian and S for the first time. Arrived in Turkey and met the fourth member of the crew and the adventure started. Such an easy transition from strangers to a group that gelled such that people thought we had known each other for years. A fab hol thanks to Julian's organisation and my fellow sailors relaxed nature. I'll do it again and will provide the salsa lessons too.
mark bruff 10/26/2010 2:47:23 PM (GMT) Hi Julian. I have just come across your site and think its a great idea! I am a young! 54yr old divorced man. Have been around boats all my life, but only just started sailing. I did my day skipper in the canaries last year. Prefer warm water sailing. Not had much chance locally. Am based in Plymouth. Mark

Kevin 9/1/2010 6:39:47 PM (GMT) Fantastic weeks sailing in Coatia on the 38"catamaran.Very stable and plenty of space. I had completed the Comp crew course 12 months before and wanted more experince.Julian and crewmate S were great and both very experienced. They took the time to explain and instruct.Stereo tuition.Brilliant. Julian was perfect host/guide/skipper and arranged everthing, even making tuna baguettes early in the morning for us to eat at the airport waiting for the flight home. Left me hungry for more ( sailing that is - not tuna baguettes) Thoroughly recommended K
